Two people discussing and using a tablet by machinery.

Human Readiness

Capability is only the beginning.

Technology changes more than the task. It changes who decides, who checks, who learns and who carries the consequences. Human Readiness asks what people need around a new capability to use it well.

Reasonable trust

Understand what a system can do, where its limits are and when a person needs to question the result. Trust should grow from evidence and experience.

Agency and worker voice

Give the people doing the work a meaningful role in shaping it. Make clear where human judgment belongs and how someone can raise a concern.

Workflows and manager capability

Look beyond the tool to handoffs, responsibilities, incentives and everyday decisions. Help managers support new ways of working.

Feedback and recoverability

Plan for mistakes. People need a way to notice problems, stop or correct an action, and bring what they learn back into the system.
